MDG Makeup & Hair is a mobile makeup and hair artist team, specialising in all event makeup and hair; from wedding makeup and wedding hair, formal or graduation makeup and hair, birthdays, baptisms, the races to corporate events and shoots. We do love executing a shoot from start to finish as well with the option of including makeup and hair to make it a one stop shop. Great for busy entrepreneurs on the lookout for a branding shoot, or maybe fancy a milestone birthday shoot for yourself!?... Cause life is short, so why not have a little fun?

Back to makeup and hair ... our focus is to create unforgettable looks, accentuating your natural beauty with carefully selected high-end products, ensuring longevity with our professional application process, giving you a skin-like finish which photographs exceptionally well (no white casts over here). We strive for a light, but impactful makeup look, accompanied by sophisticated and effortless hairstyles.

MARIKE

Head Make-up artist and hair stylist

Hi! Welcome to my world of beauty and fun!

Creativity is my passion, and the art of make-up, hair and photography is something I am so incredibly blessed to have shared with my amazing clients of the past 25 years, and counting!

It all started in school being captivated by high fashion magazines, and doing all my friends' make-up and hair for our fun nights out. From there I went off to Cape Town, South Africa to do my course in make-up. Assisting on high end shoots afterwards, I soon realized I need to learn the art of hair styling too. Lucky for me I learnt first hand from the iconic stylists of the 90's, and did a refresher course at an academy in Melbourne during 2021.

Weddings are my forte, and I specialize in make-up looks that's natural, soft, smokey and sexy, with skin- like finishes that does not feel cakey at all, and glows in all the right places. I love trying and testing new products out all the time, using the best in the biz to ensure a lightweight feel with longevity for a 24 hour sophisticated look.

I have been complimented many a times on my calming nature, which goes a long way if ever some wedding nerves had to hit.

After so many years of doing hair & makeup, I am still very humbled by each booking I receive, and feel the excitement of it like it was 1999.

ALYSSA

Make-up & hair assistant

Meet Alyssa, who can't start the day without the perfect winged eyeliner and a coffee. This adventurous girl has been assisting her mum on weddings and shoots since the age of 16.

Enjoying a gap year exploring work opportunities for experience, travelling solo, and loving learning the tricks of the trade, growing up surrounded by make-up, fashion, shoots and art, Alyssa has a good eye for detail and colour, making her the perfect assistant to take care of the skin prep, and foundation application, followed by brow work.

A good hairstyle starts with good prep work too, leaving the final touches of make-up and hair to mum Marike, making team work a dream for bigger bridal parties. Oh!, and did we mention a coffee run and feel-good, calm vibes? We've got you covered : )
